The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers one of the world’s finest collections of art. With over two million works spanning five millennia, their motto: “One Met, Many Worlds” is apt. But their vast collection is spread over hundreds of maze-like galleries, so getting lost in the museum is practically inevitable. In fact, it’s common for visitors to leave “the Met” exhausted and perplexed, having missed masterworks they hoped to see.
Our Masterpieces of the Met Tour allows you to make the most of your time at the museum. Together we’ll leap across times and cultures, enjoying some of the world’s great works of art. We’ll raid ancient Egyptian tombs and meet the mummies. We’ll see great works of the Italian Renaissance (including a lost work by Michelangelo), step into a Roman boudoir, inspect sensual Baroque sculptures, suits of armor and astounding Tiffany stained glass. And, of course, we’ll see paintings by European masters, including Raphael, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Picasso, Monet, Goya and Van Gogh.
We’ll also inspect works that typify an era and less familiar works that offer a juicy backstory or scandal. Interesting facts and intriguing stories can bring the works to life and greatly enhance your visit. If there is a particular artist or work that you want to see, we’ll be sure to include it in our exploration.
Your ticket to the Met is good for the day, so you can continue to explore the museum after the tour.
