Brooklyn is one of the world’s hottest destinations – both historic and hipster, traditional and trendy. But the sprawling borough, with its patchwork of communities and limited transit, can be daunting to visitors. On this immersive tour, we’ll explore three of Brooklyn’s most historic and famous neighborhoods – a half-day taste of Brooklyn.
We begin in Brooklyn Heights, where Brooklyn was founded. Strolling the neighborhood’s charming streets, we’ll explore its historic homes (some of NYC’s oldest) and the legendary Brooklynites who have lived there. We’ll also visit Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York’s fantastic new playground, and Fulton Ferry Landing with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. Under the Brooklyn Bridge, I’ll share the fascinating story of the iconic bridge.
We’ll then tour the cobblestone streets of DUMBO, the industrial wasteland recently transformed into one of NYC’s hottest districts. This is an ideal spot to indulge in a tasty treat – DUMBO offers some of the city’s finest food vendors, including renowned pizza, bagels, baked goods, coffee, chocolate and ice cream.
Next, we’ll hop a ferry for a ride up the East River, passing under the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Along the way, we’ll enjoy extraordinary views of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
We disembark in Williamsburg. There we’ll explore the Hasidic Jewish community and their fascinating old-world culture. Proceeding north, we’ll experience the neighborhood’s mix of diverse cultures, historic sites, and colorful street art. Finally, we’ll explore the heart of Williamsburg, the industrial district that has become the hub of hipster culture, brimming with boutiques, bistros, bars and clubs.
